How to navigate our community

Your TPW Journey

TPW brings the best of high-quality strategic philanthropy education, a vibrant and growing community of global changemakers, and a platform for collective action and signaling What Works. You will experience your first year in a cohort, completing core programs built on 25 years of experience, before joining our community and thriving from the abundance of experience, talent and ambition it has to offer.

Many new members will join at the beginning of the year, though there is flexibility to come into the TPW community at any time. From January to March we will take stock as a community, share learnings from the past year, and set intentions for the year ahead. Peer Groups and Action Labs will form, and new members will convene as a cohort before joining our foundational program: the Gen Impact Accelerator.

This Community Learning Moment will feed into the Global Summit in March. The Summit will convene members, partners and leaders from across our community and beyond, bringing together the best of all of TPW’s work. The Summit will challenge and inspire, channeling learning into action and serving as an energizer and a launchpad for the year ahead.

From March to October, the cohort will continue their journey, completing our core programs building their knowledge, skills and connections. The wider community will also continue to progress through immersive programming, practitioner and member spotlights, and peer groups and Action Labs. This will lead to the Global Gathering in October, which will be a global, member-only convening, sharing best practice and signaling What Works.

Following the Global Gathering, we close out our year and look to the following as a community that continues to grow, diversify, and become even more impactful.

TPW’s Programs: What Engagement in the Community Looks Like

TPW offers a diverse range of programs to help you move forward on your philanthropic journey. Every program is built on the Strategic Roadmap and our three pillars: learning, connection, and action. We encourage you to commit to TPW Community values when joining these programs, including taking pride in your continuous learning, taking ownership of your journey and your impact, and contributing to a culture of collaboration, exchange, and action.

This page will help you understand the purpose of each program, who it has been designed for, and what you can expect when joining. The programs have been split into three categories based on their objective: to help you build your core, go deeper, and collaborate & take action.

The below also includes icons for each program, which you can use to help you navigate the full program calendar, on the Member Community here.

Build Your Core:

TPW’s core programs help you build your foundations, set your strategic direction, and understand TPW’s culture and values. All TPW members must commit to our core programs in their first year and will go through the programs as a cohort; members may also rejoin these programs in future years. They are relevant to all social investors regardless of your approach, funding area, or experience level. They are capped to ensure intimacy and take place over a number of days.
