Member Spotlight: Fran & William Perrin

We are absolutely thrilled to share that TPW members Fran and William Perrin have both been recognised for their work in this year’s Queen’s Birthday List Honours, recognising the outstanding achievements of people within the UK. In this year’s Honours List, released at the weekend, Fran was awarded an OBE in recognition of her charitable services, particularly during COVID-19, and William received an OBE for his work in technology and internet safety.

Fran founded the Indigo Trust more than 10 years ago, and early on in the pandemic, the Indigo Trust provided grants worth £1 million to the National Emergencies Trust, £1 million to the Trussell Trust foodbank network and £500,000 to the Oxfordshire Community Foundation. Fran is also the founder and director of 360Giving, a non-profit that aims to empower other organisations to donate by providing standardised data. Fran maintains a strong focus on recognising and meeting the needs of the communities and charities who need their support.

William has been awarded his OBE in recognition of his work in tackling online harm, and on the Statutory Duty of Care and Fundamental Freedoms in conjunction with Professor Lorna Woods, through his role with the Carnegie UK TrustWilliam is also a trustee of the Indigo Trust and 360Giving, and works closely with the Good Things Foundation to improve access and understanding of the internet.

As many of you will know, William is also a Trustee of TPW, and both Fran & William have been long-time leaders and advocates within the TPW community — leading, learning, sharing and challenging for ever greater impact. William and Fran shared that they both learnt from TPW that their time was one of the most valuable things they could contribute to their philanthropy, as well as the idea of the 5th “T” (Time, Talent, Treasure, Ties, Tent) – the idea of a Tent, being a place to convene the sector in order to achieve greater collective action. For Fran, this was focussed on shifting donor behaviour with 360Giving; for William this was a dedication to catalysing legislators around the need for action on online harms.

Both Fran & William use their roles to be advocates for the causes they are deeply passionate about, and as such, have accelerated tremendous impact across the sector. Please join us in celebrating these wonderful and well-deserved accolades within our community!
