Join TPW members and peers to ask hard questions and collaborate to advance what works.

The Global Summit seeks to mobilize a network of philanthropic and entrepreneurial leaders who accelerate best practices, drive social impact, and humbly partner with communities to solve the urgent problems facing our world.

The Global Summit is about action: openly sharing ideas, key challenges and constructively engaging with peers and experts to advance what works. We want every leader who attends to leave with new strategic connections, practical knowledge that applies directly to their work, and committed partners who can help unlock resources.

2019 Theme: Hard Questions

Socrates believed that a society is shaped by the questions it asks. Given the unprecedented challenges humanity faces in the coming decade, there has never been a greater opportunity to ask challenging questions of ourselves, our leaders and our institutions. It is a time where networks can advance innovation and positive change faster than ever before. Throughout our weekend together, we will ask hard questions and explore the solutions needed to achieve positive social impact in the world.

Schedule At A Glance

Over the course of four days, attendees will have the opportunity to connect with fellow peers, learn and share best practices, dive deep into pressing global issues, and collaborate to advance impact. Below is an overview of each day of the Summit:

Thursday

May 2, 2019

The Summit will kick off with two convivial events in San Francisco and Napa:

In San Francisco, attendees can join a one-of-a-kind evening with Smuin Contemporary Ballet. The night will begin with an exclusive group session with Smuin dancers, followed by a small reception, then Smuin’s 25th Anniversary World Premiere Performance.

In Napa, TPW is delighted to host an evening reception for attendees to meet and greet and taste extraordinary local wine with experts from Napa vineyards.

Friday

May 3, 2019

We will officially kick off programming with a welcome plenary that dives into current global topics such as: the current state of social progress, the power of global networks, exposing corruption and systemic abuse, and the future of technology. Following lunch, we will break out into small group action sessions to confidentially share best practices, practical tips and lessons learned. We then reconvene to explore innovative and transformative models for change. In the evening, we will gather for a group dinner and make a toast to our first full day together.

Saturday

May 4, 2019

Our morning plenary speakers begin the day's conversations exploring topics such as climate change, preserving and protecting democracy, and a local case study on the current issues facing agricultural communities. Small group action sessions following lunch will tackle topics such as women’s progress, global corruption, mindfulness & wellness, and several other issue areas. Following our breakout sessions, we will come together to examine human health and disease prevention. We will spend a celebratory evening together with live music and salsa dancing!

Sunday

May 5, 2019

In our final morning, we will discuss the transformative nature of investing in women and the ripple effects that extend beyond their direct communities. In our final session, we will ask ourselves, “Is wealth a global threat?,” examine the current state of social investing from a broad range of experts, and conclude with a call to action that aims to inspire us well beyond this weekend together.

We will conclude with a closing lunch and discuss how we can take the connections made and best practices shared into the world and the work we lead every day.
